This Board Briefing is intended to help foundation and nonprofit boards consider the advantages and limitations of having the organisation's CEO on the board. It includes advantages and disadvantages of CEOs on and off the board, and of whether CEOs should have voting rights, as well as providing questions for boards to consider when debating the inclusion of the CEO. The article concludes with the comments of some foundation practitioners on why they chose to involve CEOs on the board, or not to do so.
