Disaster Relief Overview
This section of PhilanthropyWiki is intended to provide information, links and resources for grantmakers interested in funding disaster relief. A disaster is assumed to be an event which develops rapidly and results in the death, serious injury or suffering of a large number of people, or resulted in widespread damage to property or the natural environment. Generally in order to be eligible for government relief, a disaster must be declared to be a disaster by a State or Territory minister under the law of that state or territory, or it must give rise to a declaration of a state of emergency.
Disasters can be natural disasters, or can be man-made.
