On September 12, 2006, Australian Philanthropist John Davis announced a donation of $15M to charity.
John Davis is an importer and professional investor based in Cairns, Queensland. The $15M donation will take the form of a number of bequests:
- About 20 charities and organisations around the world will benefit from his bequests – some to receive more than $1 million each – but local groups such as James Cook University and a swag of north Queensland hospitals are included in those plans.

Although this was a significant donation occurring only a few months after the Warren Buffett donation, there was relatively little media coverage of Mr Davis's announcement. On September 12, A Current Affair aired a feature on Australian philanthropy with a focus on Mr Davis's bequests.
