Lady Southey is the youngest child of Sidney Myer and Merlyn Bailieu Myer. She was born in San Francisco, California.

Lady Southey was President of The Myer Foundation from 1995-2000 and President of Philanthropy Australia from 2000-2007. She is President of the St Catherine's School Foundation, a supported and Honorary Life Member of the Australian Ballet, Life Member of the Nuffield Farming Scholars Association, and a supporter of Birds Australia.
