One of the Current Issues Information Sheets published by the Centre of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies at QUT, this publication focuses on aggregate statistics relating to Prescribed Private Funds (PPFs). Among the revelations in this information sheet:

• As of 1 July 2008 there were 769 PPFs approved
• In the financial year to 30 June 2007, a total of $471.7m was donated to PPFs
• In that financial year, PPFs distributed a total of $117m to DGRs, an increase of 58% over the previous year.
• Welfare organisations received the most donations, followed by cultural organisations
• In 2007-08 the ATO reported that it completed 45 reviews of PPF endorsements, which led to 21 cases receiving written advice to implement changes to ensure future compliance with tax obligations. The ATO intends to complete at least 50 such reviews in 2008-09
