Rural & Regional Communities
From PhilanthropyWiki
As Australia moves rapidly towards increased urbanisation not only do many of the more traditional challenges to country living persist, but rural and regional communities are frequently finding themselves confronted by new issues.
Drought, bushfire, economic hardship and remote access are oft being joined, or even exacerbated by, dwindling and/or ageing populations, workforce and skills shortages, land erosion and environmental degradation and a perceived lack of opportunity.
Numerous organisations and projects have been initiated for the purpose of combating these issues in seeking to ensure the continued survival of those communities lying beyond Australia's urban fringe.
