Sir Gustav Nossal

Sir Gustav Joseph Victor Nossal is an Australian research biologist. He was born in 1931 in Austria and his family emigrated to Australia when he was eight.
Among Sir Gustav's many roles have been:
- Director of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, Melbourne, 1965-1996
- Deputy Chairman of the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation, 1998-2000
- Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Global Foundation
- President of the Australian Academy of Science, 1994-1998
- Chairman of the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation, 1987-1996
- Chairman of the Strategic Advisory Council of the Bill and Melinda Gates Children's Vaccine Program (1998-2003)
Sir Gustav is Chairman of the Alfred Felton Bequest Committee and Patron of Philanthropy Australia.
